12.09.17 Office outing
The studio team spent a day last month touring three gardens in Surrey and Sussex.
The first stop was to a private Arts and Crafts garden in Surrey TSS have been working on for the past few years. It's a garden of many different enclosed spaces, 'walks' and a remarkable woodland of mature rhododendrons, magnolias and camellias.
The second port of call was to the late Gertrude Jekyll's home and garden at Munstead Wood. Head gardener Annabel Watts kindly gave us a full tour of the gardens and Lutyens house.
Finally we were given two fascinating tours of Wakehurst Place. The first by Ed Ikin, head of Landscape and Horticulture, concentrated on the grounds geographic plantings.
For the second part Keith Manger showed us around the labs and underground bomb proof vault of the Millennium seed bank, home to the most genetically diverse collection in the world.
