After an MA in History at Birmingham University, Charlotte worked at a marketing agency for a number of years, managing a client base in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia. She lived for a year in Washington DC, setting up the agency's North American operation. She retrained in garden design at Merrist Wood and construction at Capel Manor and then joined Tom Stuart-Smith Ltd in 2009, where she manages the planting activity for the practice.
