Yorkshire garden

This remarkable site overlooks the vale of York. On a clear day the towers of the Minster are visible on the horizon 25 miles to the south.

The garden creates a contemporary terraced setting for the eighteenth century house and its newly-built wing. Its appearance represents a progressive abstraction of the rectilinear field patterns seen in the view. This more formal part of the garden contrasts with a romantic valley garden, currently under development.
