What is now the garden to the west of the barn was an empty wheatfield twenty years ago. Since then a framework of hedges has grown up to create a series of interlocking spaces, surrounded by an open meadow of trees and wildflowers. Some of these spaces are empty; others densely planted. Much of the planting is more random and complex than the schemes Tom creates for his clients. Plants are allowed to seed themselves through the garden. This spontaneous effect nonetheless requires careful management.
Tom's garden is open to the public on Sunday 20 June 2010, 2pm-5pm, as part of the National Gardens Scheme.
