Jardin de Tramuntana

Located in Mallorca’s mountainous Sierra de Tramuntana UNESCO World Heritage Site, this wild garden has been established in the grounds of an old orchard which had been abandoned since the 1960s. A large irrigation tank, originally fed by a natural spring has been retained and restored, and new olive trees have been planted with an understory of Mediterranean plants that are being allowed to evolve into a natural and organic composition.

The garden was planted in early spring 2022 and was established without the use of an automated irrigation system which was made possible by careful maintenance and the use of a thick layer of gravel mulch that reduces evaporation and the growth of weeds.
