There are many ways to visit the gardens, including open mornings on the first and third Tuesday of each month from April through to October (tickets must be purchased online in advance via the Serge Hill Project website here), an annual National Garden Scheme open day in June (one of the only ways to visit at the weekend, when the gardens are usually closed), and special events like plant fairs which are organised by the Serge Hill Project.
It is also possible to book a fully guided private group visit between May and September (excluding August). The cost of visiting the Barn Garden and Plant Library this way is £66pp (inc. VAT), with a minimum group size of 10 people. You are welcome to bring a smaller group, but the minimum cost for 10 people will apply. We may be able to offer special rates for non-commercial groups and students - please enquire for further details. Where special rates are offered, there may be a minimum charge of £500 per group.
Fully guided private group visits are usually available on Thursdays and Fridays (by prior arrangement only) with visits lasting two hours and starting at either 10am or 2pm.
To make a booking enquiry you can either complete the form found here or email us at info@tomstuartsmith.co.uk
Serge Hill Garden
Groups that visit between May and mid-July can also request to visit Serge Hill Garden. The gardens of this lovely Regency house, situated next door to the Barn Garden, are set in beautiful parkland with a walled garden planted by Kate Stuart-Smith (Tom’s sister) @katestuartsmith
The cost of visiting Serge Hill Garden is £15 per person, with the visit lasting approximately one hour.
Tea/coffee and cake can be included for an additional £10 per person, but must be requested in advance, and is only available when including Serge Hill Garden in your visit.
Additional information for fully guided private group tours
Tours are given in English but groups are welcome to bring their own translator.
With the exception of registered support dogs, no dogs are permitted in the gardens.
Coaches must travel via Bedmond, along Sergehill Lane, because the route via Whitehouse Lane is not suitable for large vehicles. We cannot accommodate coaches that are longer than 14 metres.
All proceeds from visits to the Barn Garden and Plant Library go directly to The Serge Hill Project for Gardening, Creativity and Health, a not-for-profit Community Interest Company founded by Tom and Sue and based in the Orchard at Serge Hill. The project provides resources and programmes for local schools, charities and community groups, especially those who have the least access to the natural world. https://www.sergehillproject.co.uk/
